Immediate actions

The things that need to be done immediately will vary depending upon the individual circumstances of your bereavement. The links on this page are there to help guide you, but we’re always at the end of the phone any time of the day or night, including weekends and all bank holidays, so if you need further help or advice call us on 0121 476 9111.

The Coroner

Sometimes when a person passes away H. M. Coroner may need to be informed. Often this is just a formality and we will give advice depending upon your individual circumstances – please tell us as soon as you know this is going to happen so that we can assist you.

Unfortunately there isn’t any generic information published by The Coroner’s Service which we consider useful. In certain circumstances a Doctor is required to report a death to the Coroner, for example when a person has not been seen by a Doctor within 14 days prior to their death. Whatever the circumstances we will monitor the formalities on your behalf and keep you advised every step of the way.

The Coroner’s system for England and Wales is different to that in the remainder of the UK so please contact us on 0121 476 9111 for specific advice.
